Beyond the elastic cord: the importance of the bungee cord end fitting
When we talk about bungee cords, we often think of the elastic cord… but the end fitting is just as important. This small component plays a key role in the function and safety of the product.
Whether it’s holding a tarp securely in place, securing a load, or maintaining cable tension, choosing the right bungee cord hook ensures the performance of the entire system.
A wide range of fasteners for bungee cords
To meet a variety of fastening needs, Eurosandow offers a complete range of fasteners and hooks for bungee cords compatible with different diameters and types of elastic cords.
Our solutions are designed for professionals in industry, automotive, and logistics, as well as manufacturers of nautical, sports, and event equipment.
The reliability of a bungee cord hook depends as much on its design as on the choice of materials used.
The right choice depends above all on the end use: Load to be held? Required return force and elongation? Level of friction? Outdoor use?
There is a solution for every constraint.
Among the end fittings frequently used by our customers, we find in particular:
➡️ Steel hooks
➡️ Galvanized steel hooks
➡️ Painted steel hooks
➡️ Zinc-plated steel hooks
➡️ Plastic-coated steel hooks
➡️ Overmolded hooks
➡️ Tilting end caps
➡️ Snap hooks
What material should you choose for a bungee cord attachment?
The choice of material for a bungee cord attachment depends directly on the environment in which it will be used and the mechanical stresses it will have to withstand.
Steel
Steel hooks are the most robust solution. They can withstand high tensions and provide excellent stability over time, making them the preferred choice for industrial or automotive environments.
Galvanized or zinc-coated steel offers enhanced protection against corrosion, ideal for outdoor use, while painted or plastic-coated versions add an extra layer of protection while improving appearance and strength.
Plastic
For certain environments, plastic end fittings are preferable. Plastic hooks are corrosion-resistant and ideal for environments with high humidity levels.
For increased strength, overmolded plastic hooks can be manufactured to serve as end fittings for cables and bungee cords with diameters ranging from 2 to 40 mm.
This design prevents rust and ensures greater product durability. This bungee cord is used in particular for securing pool covers and for light lashing.
| Material | Benefits | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Raw steel | Excellent mechanical strength Very high tensile strength | Corrosion sensitive For dry environments only |
| Galvanized/zinc-coated steel | Very good resistance to moisture and rust | Slight oxidation possible over the long term |
| Painted/plastic-coated steel | Enhanced surface protection Aesthetic finish Reduced friction | Less suitable for very high prolonged stresses |
| Plastic bungee cord hook | Lightweight, rustproof, corrosion resistant | Less resistant to high tensile forces |
| Overmolded hook | Excellent tear resistance Aesthetic finish | Specific manufacturing process |
En fittings adapted to every use
Each application requires a bungee cord fastener adapted to its specific constraints. That’s why Eurosandow designs and manufactures a complete range of hooks and bungee cord accessories capable of meeting the most varied needs, from light support to demanding industrial fastening.
Fastening for industry
Industrial and logistics applications require fast, practical, and reusable fastening systems. Plastic-coated bungee cord hooks and accessories can be used to fasten or group items together on workstations, trolleys, or in storage areas.
In industry, bungee cords equipped with overmolded plastic hooks can be particularly useful.
The overmolding process applied to this product creates a protective barrier that prevents scratches and the risk of tearing. In addition, plastic overmolding eliminates annoying steel-on-steel noises, promoting a quieter and more pleasant working environment.

Fastening solutions for logistics and transport
In the logistics and transport sectors, reliable fastening solutions are essential to ensure the safety of loads throughout shipping.
Solutions such as tensioning straps equipped with galvanized or zinc-coated steel hooks, or even overmolded hooks, are particularly suitable for securing goods on pallets, in trucks, or in containers. They guarantee constant tension and resistance to shocks and vibrations, thus preventing unwanted movement, impacts, and damage during transport and delivery.
Securing pool covers
For securing pool covers, we recommend the use of plastic-overmolded steel hooks, which offer excellent resistance to moisture and corrosion.
